$1k budget, a little wiggle room if the car is nice enough. It's gotta run. I know it isn't much to work with, but my friend just needs a short term beater. RWD and Manual would be nice but beggars can't be choosers. It should have a little fun in it at least. I'm in the DC/Virginia area so DC craigslist should be where your looking. Thanks! I'm looking forward to see what you all find.

Trucks really can be some of the most fun beaters out there. They're always super cheap for what you get, too.

My friend bought a decently clean 86 that is SOLIDLY above "beater" class for $1750. I bought a 924 for 500 bucks which so far all it has needed was replacement hard brake lines as they have rusted out. If you can find an E30 for under 1k you could go with that too.

Yeah, I noticed that, but at $1k and in the DC area and in like 2 minutes of searching before I got bored I couldn't do better. "Beggars can't be wagon lovers" and all that.

Hmm I'm not familiar with Porsches but I found a really nice 944 that needs a clutch that could be picked up for around $2500. I'm tempted to but it for myself haha

yes key word. I am actually looking for something cheap and 4wd or awd and manual. But that combo is not easy to find for cheap

I'm pretty sure if you keep looking you could find one that doesn't need a clutch for less... it may be a little ratty but fully working. Down here in the NY tri state area there's a ton of 944's that are in meh condition but fully working for less than 2k.

Good to know, I wouldn't be against buying a 944 in the tri state area and driving down.. It's like a 4 hour drive if I take it easy.

If your price range is that open however, spending the extra coin on a NICE 944 is worth it. Keep me updated on what you do!

The $1k budget is my friends.. I don't have a set budget at the moment so if a nice car pops up at the right time I'll most likely buy it.. I was even thinking about going for a 996, but it would be more sane to keep my E90 and buy a ~$5k 944. I'll definitely keep oppo posted!

A little ambiguous as to whether or not it currently runs, but it should be an easy fix, right?

Or if you're really set on the whole "running" thing. but more flexible on the "structurally sound" thing: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/427690…

Agreed.
My sketch senses are tingling right now.

Too new and too low mileage to be that cheap. Not that I even like Camaros a bit, but it's no Civic or Geo Metro for sure. Something's up here...
